Learn How To Apply An S Curl

I’ve been using an S curl on my hair for a few years now since I’m growing my hair out, every time I apply, the steps are a little different because my hair gets longer and I have to make sure that I evenly apply it. Below, I outline the steps I used to apply my S curl along with a video demonstration.

  1. The first thing I do is apply the oil moisturizer hair lotion to my edges. This pretty much will help to prevent me from loosing my edges. Your edges are one of the most sensitive parts of your hair so it wouldn’t be hard for this chemical to burn them off so make sure you use the hair lotion.
  2. Now is when I applying the cream to my hair. It’s important to use gloves when dealing with chemicals because you don’t want the chemicals to break down into the skin in your hands, and your nails can also turn yellow and soft. I’ll apply it one section at a time to make sure that it’s spread evenly and throughout my whole head. If you have short hair, you don’t really have to worry about applying it in sections, but I will say to start applying it to the section of your hair that you feel would need a little longer time to process than the rest of your hair.
  3. Once the cream is applied, I comb my hair to make sure it’s on every strand. Because I have longer hair, I don’t really have a direction that I comb my hair in because it’s just falls, but if you have short hair, you want to comb your hair in the direction you want the curl to be when you wash the Scurl out.
  4. I leave the product in for 12 minutes. That’s the amount of time my hair needs for it to curl but you can use the time chart that’s included in the kit to estimate how long you should leave it in your hair based on your hair texture.
  5. While washing the product out of my hair, I use the color alarming shampoo that comes in the kit. This is important to use because it changes colors to let you know if you still have any cream left in your hair. White means it’s all out and pink means you still have some left in there.
  6. After that, I use Shea moisture’s yucca and plantain anti breakage strengthening shampoo and conditioner to finish washing my hair, which can be purchased here and here
